About Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian - Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Thank you for choosing Dr. Karamanoukian for your rhinoplasty procedure. Finding an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon can be a difficult task as nasal surgery requires expertise in both cosmetic plastic surgery and a fundamental understanding of the important role the nose has in breathing.
Dr. Karamanoukian is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine Department of Plastic Surgery. He is the author of several textbooks in surgery and has personally authored numerous academic papers that have been published in internationally-recognized publications in surgery and plastic surgery. He is a regular contributor to Skin Health Magazine and has authored recent papers on liposuction, cosmetic plastic surgery, and neck lifts.
In 2006, Dr. Karamanoukian was the first surgeon in the world to introduce the concept of robotic-assisted microsurgery for complex cancer reconstruction. This important technique utilizes a robotic arm to reconnect tiny blood vessels in autologous tissue flaps. The technology will one day allow surgeons to remotely reconstruct tissue damaged or removed as a result of trauma or cancer reconstruction.
Feasibility of robotic-assisted microvascular anastomoses in plastic surgery.
2006 August; 22(6) 429-31 Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery.
Most importantly, Dr. Karamanoukian is a caring and compassionate surgeon who has committed his practice to cosmetic plastic surgery. Your surgery, whether cosmetic or reconstructive, demands the attention of a caring surgeon who can lead you through the preoperative and postoperative details of surgery and recovery. Dr. Karamanoukian has heralded these qualities into a seamless practice built of patient care and advocacy. He is committed to the ethical, professional, and compassionate care of his patients.
